Thinking of taking a ride downtown on your bicycle but not sure where to go? Here are some cycling routes in Singapore that will help you burn some calories and give you a change of scenery. Beware some of these routes can be quite challenging due to their rocky terrains and distance.
1. Changi Jurassic Mile – Spot Some Dinosaurs at Jurassic Park

You will be able to enjoy the sea breeze and sandy beach while you are cycling as the route is between East Coast Park and Changi Airport. You will be able to spot over 20 life-size dinosaurs such as T-Rex and Velociraptors that can be as tall as 5m. So do watch out as the are is like Jurassic Park, maybe the dinosaurs may even come to live.

The Marina Bay Loop is one of the easiest cycling routes that spans 11.5km. This route is perfect for picture opportunities as it passes by iconic landmarks in the CBD area such as Singapore Flyer and The Esplanade. The paths are also well lit so it is convenient for you to ride at night, soaking in some alone quiet time or it could be a simple late-night date idea.

3. Northeastern Riverine Loop – Coast Through Nature Around Your Neighbourhood

If you are up to cycle even further distance and you stay around Punggol or Sengkang area, we have the perfect cycling route for you. This 26km route connects four parks in the Punggol and Sengkang area including Sengkang Riverside Park and Punggol Waterway Park. Expect beautiful waterfront views throughout the route as it also follows Punggol Beach's natural shoreline and the riverbanks of Sungei Serangoon and Sungei Punggol. You may always take a diversion or make a pit stop at one of the parks for a picnic or water break if you can't stomach the full trip at once.

4. Seletar to Thomson – Take A Pit Stop To Watch Planes Taking Off

Cyclists would not have to worry about riding through heavy traffic or swerving through groups of pedestrians since Seletar is quite remote and far away from everything. The Seletar-Thomson Route passes via Upper Thomson's rows of cafés and the picturesque Lower Seletar Reservoir. Even better, the route goes past Seletar Airport, allowing you to keep a watch out for sometimes taking off aircraft.

5. Mandai Loop – Cycle With Wildlife Animals

For those daredevils out there, the Mandai Loop is a monstrous 35km to 40km circuit that treks through Thompson Nature Park, Macritchie Reservoir, and Dairy Farm Nature Park. It is part of this tour of Singapore's Central Catchment Nature Reserve, so be aware that there are some difficult hills throughout this route. However, if you're already skilled at shifting gears, you can easily bike down these hills in only 2 or 3 hours. If you are lucky you might even spot some wildlife animals as the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari are just a stone’s throw away.

There are several mountain bike paths with varying degrees of difficulty available in Chestnut Nature Park. On the moderately challenging routes, intermediate cyclists may anticipate encountering steep hills, rough terrain, and limited paths. Those who are unsure of their riding skills can hone them at the Chestnut Pump Track, which is the first pump track in Singapore that allows riders to improve their skills on dips and curves reminiscent of roller coasters.

7. Bukit Timah Mountain Biking Trail – Oldest Off-Road Biking Track

Bukit Timah Mountain Riding Path is Singapore's oldest mountain biking trail since it first opened in 1997. This rocky road track is along the perimeter of Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, with blooming flora and animals and spectacular granite quarries along the way. Bring some food with you since you'll pass through an open space grass patch along the way that makes for a perfect mid-ride picnic break.
