It was only recently opened but it has a lush green rooftop that offers similar panoramic vistas from above, but with fewer people and kites blocking the sky because kite flying is not permitted here. Picnickers truly have free reign of this ancient area - there are little to no restrictions and many stones and greenery that have been there since World War II. There are plenty of nice places to set out your mat where you can take in the mystical ambience. You can escape the heat by taking in the expansive view from Fort Canning Green or by hiding in the shaded areas close to Fort Gate. Along with the picnic areas, the neighborhood has a number of historical sites, Tiong Bahru Bakery, and a spiral staircase that is often a hit for Instagram photos.
